    Baked and absolutely delicious, this easy recipe is the best of surf and turf, with flavorful scallops and tasty bacon that's lightly glazed with brown sugar. Serve as an appetizer, or as a mini meal with a salad and your favorite side. Enjoy!

    • 8 strips bacon, approx 1/2 slice of bacon for each scallop
    • 16 scallops, medium size, about 1" diameter each
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 3 tbs brown sugar
    • 1/2 tsp fresh ground ginger
    • 1/2 tsp Sel Magique Salt & Pepper Blend
    • Fresh black pepper, to taste
    • 16 toothpicks
    • parsley or chives, chopped, for garnish


    • Preheat oven to 425 degrees f
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
    • pat scallops dry with a paper towel and remove and side muscles.
    • In a large pan, start to crisp bacon. Cook bacon until golden brown - but still soft and pliable. The idea is to mostly render the meat so it will cook throughly in the oven.
    • Wrap each scallop with 1/2 bacon strip and secure by pushing a toothpick through the bacon and scallop. Arrange on the baking sheet leaving about an inch around each.
    • In a small bowl, mix the Magique and garlic and then sprinkle generously over scallops. 
    • In another small bowl, mix brown sugar and ginger. Drizzle over each scallop.
    • Grind a little black pepper over each scallop.
    • Bake 12 to 15 minutes until each scallop is tender and opaque and bacon is cooked through. A little char is a good thing. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives, serve hot.
